Chad Billingsley whiffed 15 batters and Nate McLouth lofted one into the
'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI as the Columbus Crowd defeated the lifeless SSB
SSB Tar Heels by a score of 4 to 3 at Angels Stadium.
Billingsley(8-10) had a solid outing for Columbus. He surrendered 9 hits and
4 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. SSB made it exciting in the 9th, but they were
unable to push the needed runs across.
Billingsley got help from Chris Jakubauskas who was credited with his 6th
save. Braden Looper(9-12) suffered the loss. He surrendered 9 hits and 1
walk in 5 innings.
Billingsley, when asked about his 15 strikeout performance noted, 'The
important thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we lose, what good does it do
our team? But, on the other hand, since we won it feels great!'
